Ludwig’s pre-production writing for the Blank Panther films has always included extensively traveling the world to gather sounds from incredible musicians. These instruments, rhythms, and performers are a unique injection of sounds not usually found in super hero film scores. My role is to also take these performances and generate additional designed textures, loops, and percussion out of them, further extending the possible sound palette. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever moves outside of African source material into South America and an effort to recreate the unknown sounds of ancient Mayan music.
The final score is an incredible combination of modern production, giant orchestra, soloists, vocals, synths, and just about everything in between, while still feeling cohesive and powerful. I’m extremely proud to have worked on this one.
