Hardware sound design and sonic branding is always tricky. Lots of iterations on very short sounds. But working with the team at Syng on their Cell Alpha speaker was a joy. Every person I met on their team was a top-caliber contributor, from engineering to acoustics, production to design. For this company’s first product launch, I was brought in as an interactive audio specialist and sound designer. I first worked with their prototyping team developing internal prototypes to push this new speaker format’s capabilities. And as the product launch neared I was asked to design the embedded hardware sounds for the device, as well as mix and co-design the company’s sonic branding.
There will be lots more to see and hear from Syng in the future, and I look forward to being part of that journey.
